PSNZ National Conference

I have just attended the wonderful annual conference of the Photographic Society of New Zealand, and had a blast! Kudos to the all the organisers. I attended splendid workshops and listened to inspiring speakers. This time, I was not a presenter, which made me feel like I was on holiday.

Photo Frenzy video!

Meg and I had so much fun photograhing our first Photo Frenzy yesterday - check out this video.

Thanks to everyone who came and drew with light, and thanks for the wonderful donations for The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ - your generosity will help people see again!

Our next Frenzy, 'Quirky Characters' will be held on January 17.

The Grand Opening!

We had a fabulous Opening event for our new studio on Friday evening... thanks so much to everyone who attended!

I told everyone about the fundraising we will be doing for The Fred Hollows Foundation NZ, and Pam Williams-Jones from The Foundation explained the work that the organisation does, restoring vision to blind people in the Pacific region.

We held a taster of our first Photo Frenzy, 'Drawing with Light', in the studio. I was hugely impressed with the creativity and drawing skills displayed!

Sizzling Hot Salsa!

I was wowed by the skills on display when I photographed the NZ Salsa Nationals recently.

As some of you may know, I am passionate about dance, although not a particularly talented dancer myself.

Congratulations to all the winners and a special congrats to the lovely Kseniya, who came third in the Open section with her dance partner Coco. Kseniya modelled for us during a Studio Portraits workshop, back in June.

Only 4 days to go!

The countdown is on... there are only four days until the opening of my solo exhibition Whispers on Tuesday, 6pm. Everyone is invited and there will be wine and cheese. The location is the Lake House Arts Centre on Fred Thomas Drive, Takapuna.

The exhibition is part of the Auckland Festival of Photography. The works are fine art digital prints and hand-made photogravure prints, and include still life, landscape, and conceptual people photography.

Hope to see you there!

Terry McDermotts 60th Birthday

It was Terry McDermott's 60th birthday on Saturday, and to celebrate, friends and family came from near and wide.

We captured some family shots of Terry's daughter Deanna and her husband Steve, kids Greer and Heath and their dogs, Xena and Kelsey.

At family gatherings, there are always some precious moments that will be remembered for years to come... like this one, when young Jake met his great-grandfather, Terry senior, for the first time.

In this photo we see four generations of women... young Greer, her Mum Deanna, her grandmother Martina and her great-grandmother Annie.

To the McDermott family, thank you for inviting us to capture such a precious family occasion.
Later, Deanna sent us a lovely note:
Dear Lisa and Kate,
I just wanted to say a quick thanks for being such great sports at my Dad's 60th. The photos look great. You both seem like really nice genuine people, which made the photo sessions so much easier. We all really appreciated you both coming out and being so professional and personable, a real asset in this day and age.
Regards
Deanna
Thanks Deanna, it was our pleasure!
